One-act plays in Fintry this spring - and a half-term special!

First up on the performance agenda for 2025 is this year's juniors production from Tapsalteerie: 'Heroes of Stirling, from the Romans to the 20th Century'.

There will be two performances in the Menzies Hall on Friday 14th February, at 2.00pm and 6.30pm, with the shows lasting around 40 mins. It's FREE - no tickets required, just come along and enjoy watching our talented young performers.

And we've currently got two one-act plays in rehearsal.

The first is our entry in this year's British amateur drama festival: 'Something in the Basement' by Don Nigro ~

A married couple move into an old house, where they are troubled by Mary’s reluctance to allow Cecelia to touch her, and by her growing insistence that there is something making bizarre noises in the basement. An obsessive struggle ensues, in a strange erotic triangle with the third member that lurks beneath them. An unusual play - funny and terrifying - about things that go bump in the night.

Please be advised that this play has adult themes and may be considered unsuitable for younger audiences.

The first round of the festival takes place in Thornhill Community Hall on Fri 7th & Sat 8th of March, with FADS first on stage on Saturday evening, curtain up at 7pm. Click here for more information on the other participating plays and tickets.

This play will also be performed in Fintry on the evening of Friday 25th April. Tickets £7 - available online now.

The second play is 'Night Shift' by Peter Whiteley, ~

Four ‘bag ladies’ meet on a deserted piece of waste ground one chilly evening in October 2001.  They talk about their current lives and past experiences, with all revealed (or is it?) at the end.

It was written in 2002 and entered in SCDA’s One-Act Play writing competition, although the playwright is not sure it has ever been performed! The copy that was unearthed in the SCDA library is probably the only one left – Peter had even lost his copy!

We're delighted to be premiering this play in our version of Òran Mór’s ‘Play Pie and Pint’ – perhaps ‘Play Pakora and some Plonk’! – on three evenings in the Menzies Hall, from Thurs 27th to Sat 29th March. As well as food and drink, there will be the chance to get to know the characters better with a Q&A at the end of the performance.

Tickets £10, click here to buy online now.
